Discover the beautiful and savoury side of Tuscany! You will visit Siena, a town full of history and art. It has a very strong local tradition tied to its 17 “contrade” (small neighbourhoods), and the Palio di Siena, which has run twice every summer since the 17th century. Do not miss a visit to Piazza del Campo and possibly even to one of the famous ”contrada”. You will explore San Gimignano, a medieval town famous for its skyline of tall towers. This UNESCO World heritage site, is a perfect example of an Italian medieval town, and is also famous for its production of Santa Fina Pottery, saffron, and of course, local wines. You will stop in a local "Podere" (small farm estate) where you will taste the locally produced wines followed by a delicious light lunch. The wine tasting will include 4/5 locally produced wines and several extra virgin olive oils. The light lunch usually includes an appetizer of bruschettas. You will then be served several cured meats and locally produced cheese. (Vegetarian option also available). |
