Mount Etna & Taormina Private Tour: Discover Sicily’s Volcanic Beauty

Embark on an unforgettable private tour of Sicily's volcanic landscapes and stunning coastlines, with a chance to explore the largest active volcano in Europe, Mt. Etna, and the charming resort town of Taormina.

Full Description

Mt. Etna – Europe’s Majestic Volcano
Your day begins with a visit to Mt. Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, standing at a remarkable 3,329 meters. As you ascend this colossal natural wonder, you’ll witness an ever-changing landscape—from barren black lava deserts to verdant vineyards where the renowned DOC wine is produced. Steeped in myth, Mt. Etna is said to be the home of the Greek god of fire, Hephaestus, whose forges are believed to lie beneath the volcano. Enjoy a panoramic view of the volcanic craters and learn about the history of this fascinating geological giant.

Taormina – A Perfect Blend of History and Scenery
After soaking in the sights of Mt. Etna, head to Taormina, a picturesque resort town perched on the slopes of the mountain. Explore the town at your leisure, taking in the magnificent Roman Theatre, the second largest in Sicily, where performances still take place. The town’s charm is further enhanced by its mild climate and captivating views of the Ionian Sea, making it a haven for visitors and a favorite among intellectuals and artists since the 19th century. Wander its quaint streets, enjoy local shopping, and relax in its inviting cafes.

We reserve the right to adjust the order of visits based on timing and availability.

This tour offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and historic allure, with the chance to explore Mt. Etna’s awe-inspiring volcanic landscape and Taormina’s timeless charm, all at your own pace. Whether you're a nature lover, history enthusiast, or just looking to enjoy the magic of Sicily, this tour provides a unique and unforgettable experience.

FAQ

Your driver will be waiting for you at the confirmed pickup location (your arrival train track, at the airport arrival exit gate, at your accommodation) holding a sign with your name written on it.

What should I wear if I want to visit some religious sites?

If you intend to visit religious sites, please have knees and shoulders covered (both men and women).

What type of vehicle will be used for our tour?

We provide services in luxury Mercedes and Volkswagen sedans, minivans or minibuses (depending on availability). For parties of 1-3 guests we normally use a sedan. For parties of 4-8 guests we use minivans. And for parties larger than 8 guests we either use multiple minivans or a minibus (depending upon availability).

What type of vehicle will be provided for large groups?

For groups above 7 passengers, vehicle arrangements may vary depending on the location and availability. We can provide a Mercedes Sprinter minibus or multiple luxury minivans.

What is the difference between a tour guide and a driver-guide?

A tour driver and a tour guide are not the same. When booking a private tour, it is important to understand the difference so you know exactly what you are paying for. A tour guide holds an official license, usually issued by the state or country, and has completed formal studies in the history and culture of the sites you will visit. Guides are permitted to enter historical sites with you and provide detailed explanations. Their services are naturally an additional cost. A tour driver, on the other hand, is not licensed as a guide, has not attended guide school, and is not permitted to enter sites to provide historical commentary. Their services are therefore more economical. Many drivers are very knowledgeable about local history and culture, but they are legally required to provide explanations only while inside the vehicle. Once you are dropped off, they cannot offer historical explanations, as doing so may result in fines issued by the authorities.
