You will stop at the Naples Archaeological Museum, that houses one of the largest collections of Greek and Roman artifacts of the world. Here you will find most of what was found during the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaeum, including: mosaics and frescos, day-to-day ancient Roman objects and even a secret room which displays remarkable erotic art from the Roman period.

You will have time to stroll around the millennia-old streets of Pompeii. This town is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world due to the dramatic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, which buried eveything underneath a deep layer of ash and rocks, freezing this flourishing Roman town in the year 79 A.D.

You will stop in Herculaneum, another incredibly well-preserved ancient Roman town. Here instead, a deep layer of hot mud submerged everything following the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, giving visitors today the possibility to admire thousands of everyday objects, from price lists outside the shops, to beds, doors and even food.

What should I wear for this tour?

We suggest that you wear comfortable walking shoes as there is quite a bit of walking involved on uneven surfaces.

Is this tour accessible for people with limited walking abilities?

Our small family group (three adults and two older children) ended up doing three day tour/transfers with this company--a boat tour/transfer from Naples to Sorrento via Procida/Ischia, a boat tour on the Amalfi Coast, and a driving tour/transfer from the Amalfi Coast to Naples via Herculaneum and Mt Vesuvius. We could not recommend them more highly. The communication was excellent, and Maria C. in particular not only helped us figure out what to book, but then made sure everything went smoothly during our trips. Which ended up critical, as the day we had planned for our second trip (originally a boat tour/transfer from Capri to the Amalfi Coast), the seas were very rough and it made no sense to try to do the original tour plan. So Maria C. helped us change plans as the situation developed. Despite the conditions we could take a ferry from Capri to Sorrento, so Maria C. helped us swap over to a van transfer from Sorrento to our next place on the Amalfi Coast that day, and then rearranged the boat tour for a calmer day. Overall the value for our family was excellent when you consider we were combining tours and transfers. And of course if you are looking at this option, one of the things you are really hoping to get is a flexible, custom, low-stress experience that makes it easy to just relax and enjoy your vacation. That is exactly what we got from Joe Banana Limos and Maria C., and that makes it easy for us to recommend them to anyone looking for these sorts of services.
