You will explore the ruins of Pompeii, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, with a two hour private guided tour (tickets included). Your guide will escort you through its millennia-old streets and show you a glimpse of how ancient Roman life was in 79 A.D.
You will have time to hike up Mt. Vesuvus (tickets included), the volcano responsible for the premature end of Pompeii. It remains a present day danger as it is the only active volcano on the European mainland. The cone stands roughly 4200 feet high, and if you venture to the top you will see the entire Gulf of Naples, from Sorrento to Capo Miseno, to Procida & Ischia.
You will also visit one of the vineyards located on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius and taste some of the locally produced wines. You will taste 4 different wines, such as the famous Lacryma Christi, paired with a simple yet delicious light lunch. This will include some starters that can vary from bruschette, cured meats or vegetables, then a main dish which usually includes a type of pasta with the local tomato sauce and either a dessert or a cheese tasting depending on the location and availability.

We used Joe Banana Limos to take a private trip to Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii and a winery (lunch included). We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by our driver Massimo. He was waiting for us when we came down to our hotel foyer and then led us to his very clean and comfortable car. After openly engaging in conversation (he spoke excellent English), he was answering a question we had about limoncello when he quickly detoured to give us an impromptu tour of a factory that was on route. He was very informative, explaining Italian culture, food, history and language to us as we drove - always asking if we were okay, had enough water or wanted to detour at all. He managed the timings for our day seamlessly and organised an exceptional private tour of Pompeii (ask for Paulo - he’s excellent), and then after we asked, booked us a table at a local restaurant he recommended for the next night (Donna Sophia - the food was exquisite). If that wasn’t enough, he came to check on us the next night (turned up at our hotel on his scooter with his son) to make sure we’d been picked up for dinner and then called the restaurant to make sure everything was on track! Such a lovely, personable man. We cannot recommend him enough!! If we come back we will certainly be seeking him out.
