Immerse yourself in this full day tour that will let you discover the Ancient Roman towns of Herculaneum and Pompeii as well as the volcano responsible for their tragic end.
You will stop in Pompeii, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. This flourishing Roman town met a premature end in 79 A.D with the sudden, violent eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. An eruption so impetuous that it covered everything with lava, ashes and mud, freezing in time most of what was underneath.
Herculaneum, instead, was covered by a deep layer of mud which hardened and perfectly preserved the houses, shops, villas and frescoes beneath. You will have the chance to observe everyday life objects such as beds, wooden doors, fruits, small jewelry, and even price lists still on display outside of shops!
You will also have the opportunity to see up-close the volcano responsible for this catastrophe. The climb can be challenging for those not used to walking up steep hills, but your efforts will be compensated as you will admire the breathtaking view of the entire Gulf of Naples once you reach the top.

Our day was stellar. Antonio arrived outside our hotel on time and in a sparkling clean van. He drove us to Mt. Vensuvius, Herculaneum, and Pompei. Each spot was unique and we enjoyed all. Antonio also sidetracked a bit and took us to Sorrentino Vineyards for a wine tasting and light lunch. Antonio was friendly and knowledgeable. He provided pictures on his iPad and tidbits about each one of the tours. Not having been here before those tidbits were immeasurable! Thank you, Antonio!

I quickly found Joe Banana’s services and quickly realized they could take care of everything we needed. At 8am sharp, Mossimo was outside our Villa, ready to take us on our tour. We had a similar Mercedes mini-van, and once on-board, off we went. We started in Pompeii and opted for the guided tour. Our guide, Paulo, was there we we arrived, and we spent about two hours touring the ruins. It’s an amazing place; so much more preserved than I thought there would be. Paulo was fantastic, telling us little stories and showing us things that other groups were just passing by. At the end of the the tour, Mossimo was right there to pick us up, and we said good-bye to Paulo. Because we were tired from all the walking and it was a little overcast, we asked Mossimo if we could skip Ercolano and Vesuvius, which of course we could. He suggested that we spend some time and have lunch at a winery on Mt. Vesuvius - Cantina de Vesuvius, which was so much fun. We got a small tour of the vineyard, and then got to taste their wines as we enjoyed lunch. For those who are gluten-free, they are able to accommodate. Massimo then took us back to our Villa. This is just one of the many examples of how the tour can be adjusted based on how you’re feeling.

We started in Sorrento and made our way to Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Our tour guides, Paolo and Luigi were welcoming, knowledgeable, and funny. They accommodated all of our needs, allowed us to customize the tour on the spot, gave us plenty of time to wander around Pompeii, and made sure we had a great lunch all before hiking the mighty Mt Vesuvius. They were so great we booked with them twice after! Love this company.
