Wine Tasting in Campania Region

Code: JROH010

One of Joe Banana's English speaking drivers will meet you at your accommodation in Rome for this wine lover’s day tour!

We will drive approximately 3.5 hours in order to reach the wine region of Campania, which is renowned as the land of great noble wines and this day tour allows access into the main wine cellars where the following three wines are produced:

Greco di Tufo: an aristocratic wine that was first introduced by the Greeks from Thessaly. It is straw-colored, golden yellow and has a pleasing and characteristic aroma with dry harmonious taste which goes well with all dishes.

Fiano: an antique wine from the Latin "vitis apiana" (as it attracts bees).  It is very aromatic and can also be served as an aperitif. Yellow-straw in color, it has an intense yet pleasant aroma and is dry in taste (similar to toasted hazelnuts). It goes well with all fish based dishes.

Tauràsi: considered to be one of the best "reds" in Italy, it was the first in Campania to be awarded the prestigious DOCG. Its ruby, burgundy color acquires orange reflections with aging.  It has a pleasing aroma and a dry and aromatic taste which goes well with lasagna, game, roasts, mushrooms and strong or seasoned cheeses.

Together we will visit two wineries where you will be able to enjoy a guided tour followed by a tasting of some of the locally produced wines.

This tour also includes a light lunch at one of the wineries.

After this beautiful tour we'll drive back to your accommodation in Rome which is about 3 hours and a half away.
