Experience the best of this area, mixing history and delicious wine!

You will stop in Herculaneum, an ancient Roman town allegedly founded by Hercules, which came to a premature end due to the untimely eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. This archaeological site is one of the few places in the world that can be seen close to its original condition, because a layer of hot mud buried it deeply, preserving everything beneath. You will find thousands of everyday objects, from price lists outside of the shops, to beds, doors and even food.

You will stop at Mt. Vesuvius and have the chance to hike up to the crater. The volcano stays roughly 4200 feet high, but however far you will venture up, you will be able to see the entire Gulf of Naples, from Sorrento to Capo Miseno, to Procida and Ischia. Take the opportunity to trek up to the top and peer into its enormous crater!

You will stop in one of the vineyards located on the slopes of Vesuvius, where the wine making tradition dates back to the Romans who used to produce the “Vesuvinum” here. You will taste some of the locally produced wines (usually the tasting includes 4 different types of wine) accompanied by a light lunch. Lunch will include some starters that can vary from bruschette, cured meats or vegetables, a main dish which usually includes a type of pasta with the local tomato sauce and either a dessert or a cheese tasting, depending on location and availability.

Please Note: Entrance tickets for Mt. Vesuvius are not included and must be purchased ahead of time.
