You will visit the Chianti Region, stopping in several little towns. The most famous one is surely Greve in Chianti, best-known as the “wine town” where you will find many typical shops with “vino for sale” and visit the very peculiar triangular square where the market is held.

You will visit San Gimignano, a medieval town UNESCO Heritage Site, famous for its skyline of tall towers and enjoy a stroll along its streets. Do not forget to visit the Duomo with its walls entirely covered in frescos.

You will stop in a local vineyard where you will learn about the production process and taste several local wines, followed by a typical Mediterranean light lunch.

What should I wear if I want to visit some religious sites?

If you intend to visit religious sites, please have knees and shoulders covered (both men and women).

Is this tour accessible for people with limited walking abilities?

The itinerary can certainly be customised according to your needs, but please note that some areas may not be accessible with a stroller/wheelchair or for people with limited walking abilities.

What should I wear for this tour?

We suggest that you wear comfortable walking shoes as there is quite a bit of walking involved on uneven surfaces.

I have some dietary preferences/needs, can I do this tour?

Please send us an email specifying your dietary preferences/needs, and we will advise accordingly.

Where and how will I find the driver in La Spezia port?

Due to security restrictions at La Spezia port, private tours are not able to get close to the ship. So we kindly suggest that you disembark about 20 minutes earlier than your scheduled pick up time and take the free shuttle to the parking lot, where your driver will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name written on it.

Where and how will I find the driver at Livorno port?

Your driver will be waiting for you at the gangway of your cruise ship holding a sign with your name written on it.

What is your back to port policy?

We have a back to port policy of at least 1 hour prior to the last scheduled boarding time for the ship.

Not wanting to do the tours from our ship due to the cost and huge number of people on each tour, we opted for italytoursharing.com through Joe Bananas day tours. The tours were easy to sign up for and through the Celebrity Silhouette roll call on Cruise Critic, we invited others to join the tour. So, only 8 people per tour at a great price and individualized service. The guides in both locations were great and the tour felt very special since we were only a group of 8, we could easily decide any special detours we wanted to take. We went "off road" in Tuscany/Florence to visit the Chianti Wine Country. We were picked up at the Cruiseship right on time and delivered back safe and sound in plenty of time. Another plus was the vehicle (van) being smaller than a huge tour bus gets you closer to each site. Others on big tour buses arranged with the ship, said they had to park far from the sites. So, not only was there a lot of walking when you get to the stops, you have to walk a long way from the bus before you even get there! The guides showed us all the best sights and we're so knowledgeable about the history and beauty of the area. Don't hesitate to book with this company!

We toured with Joe Banana Tours on our Mediterranean Cruise. We were picked up from the dock at 8 AM and the driver had a sign with our name on it. From there we headed to Pisa to see the sights for about an hour. We had the option to climb the tower while there. From Pisa we stopped in Greve in Chianti, a little Tuscan town to sightsee for a little while before heading to Fattoria Montecchio for the vineyard and olive oil tour, tastings and lunch. There was a 35 Euro per person charge for the tour, tastings, and lunch that we had to pay when we got there. If interested, you can buy wines and olive oils and they will ship them home to you so you don't have to worry about getting them back on the ship and planes. We then stopped and visited San Gimignano for some more sightseeing before heading back to the ship. All in all it was a wonderful tour through some lovely villages and countryside and maybe our most favorite tour of the cruise.
