Pompeii, Sorrento & Positano

Code: JAMA003

One of Joe Banana's English speaking drivers will meet you at the port of Amalfi. He will be waiting as you exit the tender, holding a sign with your name on it. The day will then start as we drive by the Amalfi Coast, stopping a couple of times along the way to take some beautiful pictures.

After about a one hour drive up the Amalfi Coast, we'll arrive at the ruins of Pompeii. This, the largest archaeological site in Europe, is the first stop on this breathtaking shore excursion!

Part of an ancient Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D., you will have about two hours to explore the ruins by foot.

After this amazing archeological experience, we will drive to our next destination of the day, Sorrento. To reach the famous town of Sorrento we will drive along the coastal road to its furthest point where spectacular views of the entire bay of Naples and the Island of Capri are revealed as the Amalfi coast road emerges from over the mountain cliff.

We will then stop right in the main square of Sorrento where you can have one hour or more to explore this wonderful town and your driver will be happy to suggest a location for a delicious lunch based on your preferences. This city has inherited the traditional Neapolitan pizza from their neighboring city of Naples, therefore the Pizzeria's in town are highly recommended.

Sorrento, next to the Amalfi Coast, is a major shopping centre for the local people as well as tourists.

After Sorrento, we will find ourselves driving down-hill directly through Positano where we will descend down the winding one-way road, passing by many picturesque houses and shops, and ultimately arrive in the heart of the town, at “Piazza dei Mulini”. This is the last point accessible by car, so we will park our car and walk downtown where all the streets lead to the waterfront.

Here we can have about one hour or more to discover this beautiful village denominated “The Jewel of The Amalfi Coast”.

Positano has beautiful things to see: the cathedral, ceramic shops, lemons, hand-made shoes and, of course, “Positano fashion”. Many people prefer to enjoy their time on the beach or in a local cafe by the waterfront.

After the visit in Positano we'll drive about 40 minutes along the scenic Amalfi Coast to arrive back at the port in Amalfi.
