We wish to point out this particular tour although touching a world famous area of Tuscany, it does involve quite a considerable amount of driving from and to the port of La Spezia. We always suggest that you focus on your preferred interests as you select a tour, so if you MUST, heed this warning and enjoy.

One of Joe Banana's English speaking drivers will meet you at La Spezia port. You will need to take the shuttle from the cruise ship to the parking lot where your private driver will be waiting for you, holding a sign with your name on it.

This Tuscan shore excursion will start with a drive through the famous Chianti wine road in order to arrive in Greve in Chianti.  We'll visit this fabulous town which sits in the Val di Greve, named for the small, fast-flowing river that runs through it. Greve is the principal town in the Chianti wine district, which stretches south of Florence and just north of Siena. Until recently it has been a quiet, almost bucolic town because it was, and still is, well off the main roads.

After the visit in Greve we'll drive through Montefioralle (right in the heart of Chianti Region). We will also drive through Badia a Passignano, another enchanting village where we will have time to stop for pictures. Your spectacular shore excursion will continue as we arrive in the village of San Donato in Poggio. Here we will have time to walk around, and soon after this, we'll find ourselves in the middle of the wine area.

We will visit a winery, where a great sommelier/guide will take us on a tour, including wine tasting of 4 different wines, and a typical Tuscan light lunch (bruschetta, cannellini beans, tuscan pecorino, salami, ham, cantucci [dry almond cookies] and Vin Santo).

After this unforgettable experience, we'll drive back to the port.

Tour starts at 7.30 am which will give you a return to ship time of 5.00 pm.
