One of Joe Banana's drivers will meet you at the port in Amalfi for a shore excursion to remember!
The day will start with a chauffeured drive by the famous Amalfi and Sorrento Coasts. After about 1 hour and 15 minutes of driving, we'll arrive at the ruins of Pompeii. Once a thriving empire, the city of Pompeii had about 30,000 inhabitants in 79 AD, when it was completely covered in 30 feet of volcanic ash by the deadly eruption of Mount Vesuvius. You will be captivated as you see the remnants of the ancient Roman life that came to a premature end in 79 A.D.
After Pompeii, we will then drive up Mt. Vesuvius, one of the most famous volcanos in Europe. We will drive up to 3000 feet, where we will park and you can then climb for about 30 minutes to arrive at the top. Once there, you can admire the crater and the panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and surrounding areas — well worth the climb!
Following this hiking adventure, we will drive to the base of the volcano where we will visit a great family winery for a light lunch, wine tasting and wine yards tour. Please note, you can easily choose to visit the winery before climbing Mt. Vesuvius if you prefer.
After this wonderful day we'll drive back to your the port in Amalfi, about 1 hour 30 minutes away.
